MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

First of all , Time for Teens would like to thank you for your interest in becoming a TFT Volunteer!  Please review the information below and let us know if you would like to begin the interview process for becoming a TFT Volunteer.

The volunteer department is an integral part of  Time for Teens. Our volunteer opportunities include helping out during camp week as well as with events and workshops throughout the calendar year. Here at Time for Teens, we believe our Volunteers enhance the quality of our programs through activities and involvement ranging from camp week to fundraising events and everything in between. We always have opportunities for students, high school and college for internships and community service requirements with our organization.

Our volunteers vary in age and background, from high school students fulfilling service requirements to employed and retired adults wishing to give back to the community. Each member of our dynamic group is committed to providing a welcoming and compassionate environment for our teens and their families.

Our adult volunteers generally commit to at least one year of service. Students may volunteer for one semester or one summer. While the average tenure of a Time for Teens volunteer is more than two years, we have volunteers who have continued to serve for ongoing or multiple years.

We encourage our volunteers to participate in special events, such as the Annual Dinner Recognition and Thank you for our Volunteers, where board members, teens and families also are invited to attend. We also recognize their contribution and commitment every June at our Annual Spring Fundraiser.

For most people, volunteering is a powerful experience. Many of our volunteers have pursued careers in human services and education  as a result of the time they spend with  Time for Teens Families.

Volunteering can also be emotionally demanding. Our teens are coping with traumatic losses, so we offer support  for our volunteers to discuss their experiences and to help them cope with the complex circumstances that may arise.

If you are currently grieving the loss of a loved one and your loss is within the past year,  or if you yourself are dealing with an illness, this may not be the best time for you to commit to us. However, we hope that you will consider volunteering in the future.
